For many years Interleaf Technology has been seeking a record source to provide library quality information for sound recordings works. SingleSource now provides this resource and much more.

With the demise of the BNB on CDRom, SingleSource offers a web-based replacement for this essential tool. Being web based it offers greater currency and less administrative overhead than the CDRom package.

Further, SingleSource has been designed as an umbrella service to bring together a range of products and services offered by both companies.

The Product

SingleSource is an interface to BDS’ database of 8 million bibliographic records and 300,000 sound recordings. The database can be searched through a web interface and records can be downloaded in MARC21 or UKMARC format as required. There is also a batch search for larger groups of records.

The Concept

SingleSource allows Interleaf Technology to bundle together different elements of our data services and offer them to our clients at a competitive rate with increasing levels of discount the more elements that are purchased. The initial product has 5 elements:

• Public Access to the SingleSource website

As the concept develops, more products and services will be added to the SingleSource system. The simple intention is to make SingleSource exactly that – a single source for high quality bibliographic information and services for Irish libraries.
