Oliver SQL is designed specifically for School Libraries and Resource Centres. It operates over a local network (intranet) or a wide area network (internet), with all functions accessible from either PC or Mac browser. It gives easy access from home and relieves the stress on school networks. It also provides a variety of options for integrating systems and processes.
Key features of Oliver include a link to the Facility school management system for ease of loading borrower records, online access to a database of 11 million catalogue records for ease of cataloguing, links to Accelerated Reader quizzes, cover images etc.
In 2007 the JCSP (Junior Certificate Schools Program) library project was extended from 10 schools. The expectation is that up to 50 schools will participate in the project. As part of this process, the JCSP engaged in a formal, EU-wide, tender process for the supply of a library management system. Oliver was selected as the system to provide the automation needs of the project. This is the first time there has been an independent evaluation of school library systems in Ireland, and Interleaf Technology are proud to have been selected.
As of February 2008 there are 45 Oliver clients installed in Ireland. Click here for details
