Dublin Business School go fully RFID

Dublin Business School go fully RFID

The Undergraduate Library at Dublin Business School (DBS) is first academic library in Ireland to go 100% RFID. Dublin Business School is the largest private third level college in Ireland with a study body in excess of 9,000 students.

Dublin Business School took a decision early in 2009 that they would introduce RFID into their undergraduate library at Aungier St.

During the summer they tagged 40,000 items at the Undergraduate Library and installed two RFID self service units.

According to Marie O’Neill, Head Librarian, “the systems are fantastic, extremely user friendly with the result that 90% of all our issues are now through self service. We are thrilled with the machines and the service  that has been provided by both 3M and Interleaf. Now we plan to tackle our other libraries next summer”.

DBS is the first academic library in Ireland to fully implement RFID for both self service and security.
