Having selected Horizon to replace their Genesis system, Donegal County Library set an ambitious schedule to complete the project.
From the initial project kick-off to the system going live took 10 weeks. This included a full data conversion of the catalogue, borrower records and circulation information and a MARC21 conversion for good measure.
The library worked tirelessly to define the new parameters and oversee the conversion.
The IT section rolled out the new servers at HQ and new clients to all branches while simultaneously dealing with Local and European elections.
The system went live in 3 branches on the 15th June, one day ahead of schedule. The rest of the branches came live on the 16th and 17th.
The library will see the benefits of the new search capabilities, a new web opac for clients and inovative new services
