Horizon and Core on same PC (TECHNICAL)

Horizon and Core on same PC (TECHNICAL)

Horizon and the CORE system can operate on the same PC

Horizon and the CORE system both use the java runtime libraries. The older versions of Horizon, release 7.34 and release 7.4.2 use java runtime 1.4.2 whereas the new Horizon client , release 7.5 uses java runtime 1.6 build 20 and above.

Core uses java 1.6 build 16 or above. Core seems to have a problem with build 24.

For the earlier releases of Horizon that use the older java runtime, 1.4.2, as long as you install java 1.6 (used by CORE) in a separate folder than version 1.4.2 it will happily co-exist with Horizon. The defaults on the java 1.6 install will install java in a different folder than 1.4.2 and the older Horizon clients are set to look in specific folders for java (set by the Environment variable HZ73CLASSPATH, HZ73JVMDLL, HZ73JAVABIN)

For Horizon release 7.5, CORE will use the new java 1.6 builds 20 - 23.
